An American in Trinidad who witnesses an assassination attempt on
Trinidad-Tobagos Prime Minister becomes critical to the survival of the government,
and the target of the opposition's assassin.
A high school student, Kevin Wells, while serving on an ROTC color
guard is confronted with the eminent assassination of a foreign diplomat. In an attempt to
save the life of Trinidad-Tobagos Prime Minister, Ahmad Shah, Kevin is shot and
nearly dies. By the time Kevin regains consciousness 10 days later, he has become a
national hero and his life has changed forever.
Before he leaves the hospital, Kiran Shah, the Prime Ministers
daughter comes to visit to thank him for saving her fathers life. Kevin, who has
been searching for his soul mate, is overwhelmed by Kirans beauty and thinks she
might be the one. Unfortunately when she returns to Trinidad-Tobago, Kevin fears he will
never see her again.
Much to his shock and delight, Kevin is summoned to Trinidad-Tobago by the Prime
Minister to testify against his alleged assassin. Kevin is delighted since this will allow
him to see Kiran again. What Kevin doesnt know is that the Prime Ministers
enemies plan to kill him.

Dear Mr. Manchee
I have just finished reading your book, Trouble In Trinidad. It
was very interesting to me. Once I got started I could not put it down.
Everything seemed so real and therefore kept my interest as I read.
In reading the book, I could not keep from wondering just how you
became so knowledgeable about Trinidad. The towns, beaches, bays, and forest
were so interesting. Perhaps you were stationed in Trinidad at some time. It
would be to my interest to know your knowledge of the area.
I was stationed in Trinidad many years ago, and therefore I
recognized the name and places that you mentioned in the book. I went to parties
at the Governor's Palace, swam on the beaches, and visited the Botanical
Gardens.
I just wanted you to know that I enjoyed the book. I have signed
your register.
Yours Truly,
Forrest W. Tippen, Sr.
Response: Dear Mr. Tippen. Thanks for your letter.
I went to Trinidad with my son who was playing in a golf tournament.
Fortunately, my cab driver was active in politics and gave me a crash course on
the government and took me to a political rally. I found the country so
interesting I had to use it as the setting for a novel. Unfortunately, I could
only spend three days there, so each day I bought the Daily Express, the
Trinidad newspaper, and read it cover to cover including even the classified
ads. You'd be surprised how much information is in a daily newspaper if you
really study it. Since it was a novel, whatever I didn't know I simply
made up. It was a fun book to write. Glad you enjoyed it. William Manchee

TROUBLE IN TRINIDAD is
about a teenager named Kevin Wells, who is much more mature than the average young man. He
has high moral standards and respect for people of all ages. Kevin is a member of the
color guard in his ROTC class. He is picked to carry a flag at a Trade conference to be
held in Dallas at the convention center. This is where life for Kevin will change forever.
Kevin spots a man on
the catwalk with a M2 rifle in his hands. When he turns and sees the laser imprint dancing
around the podium, he jumps in front of the Prime Minister of Trinidad, Ahmad Shah,
without even thinking. Kevin feels a sharp pain in his back as the bullet pierces his
flesh. The next thing he remembers is waking up in Parkland Hospital only to find out that
he has been in a coma for 10 days. The prime minister later invites Kevin to Trinidad. He
accepts the invitation without realizing his life will be in grave danger. It's terrorist
suspense at its best!
Manchee is a master at
setting a mood, laying the atmosphere, and pulling you into the lives of these truly
believable and sometimes quirky characters. TROUBLE IN TRINIDAD combines politics at its
worst and a tender love story between Kevin and Deviane Shah, the daughter of the Prime
Minister.
William Manchee has
written another 5-star book and I anxiously await the next. To me, he stands out as one of
the finest writers of our time.

Highly Recommended
High School student Kevin Wells is caught
up in a web of deceit, danger, duplicity and intrigue not to mention flatout heart
stopping DANGER as a response to his throwing himself in front of the bullet intended for
a visiting dignitary. The Trinidad-Tobago Prime Minister is saved by the young ROTC cadet.
His gratitude prompts an invitation to visit his home when Kevin comes to Trinidad to
testify against the supposed assassin. Kevin's wound is healing well when the time comes
for him to board the plane for his Trinidad adventure. The resulting visit is fraught with
confusion, murder attempts, unexpected help and Kevin's finding of a soul mate.
The teen is determined that he live a
'normal' life albeit remaining chaste in our society is not only difficult for a normal
young man, it is not always considered to be the norm by many. Before setting out for his
meeting in Trinidad with the Prime Minister Kevin finds himself fending off advances from
'friends' who are determined to 'help' him with his 'problem.' The immaturity of Kevin's
peers is evident even as he is facing head on more serious issues of life and death.
William Manchee continues to further his
role as premium writer by producing another in a series of bang-up works. This narrative
is a bit of a change from writer Manchee's Stan Turner series. And, this reviewer found
the change to be as compelling as Manchee's other publications. Filled with vigorous, well
developed characters, vibrant dialogue and as much hair raising action as the reader can
handle; TROUBLE IN TRINIDAD is a gripping novel readers will find hard to put down.
Right from the prelude Manchee's adroit
crafting embraces the reader, carries that reader along on a breathless roller coaster of
emotion and action and at last leaves the feeling of 'sorry it is over.' The work is well
written, and convincing. It carries a subtle message for pre marital abstinence without
overpowering the storyline. The 'bad guys' in this work are really louts who deserve our
disdain, the 'good guys' are ones we hope will emerge the victor.
Watch those red herrings! Don't be caught
napping with the surprise in store near the end of this fine, fast paced Manchee novel.

Dallas authors trip
to Trinidad spells Trouble
by Brandice J. OBrien
The Monitor
DallasIn the fall of 1999, fiction author William Manchee visited
the island nation of Trinidad-Tobago for the first time, to watch his son play in a
professional golf tournament. While in the small Third World country, he was fascinated by
everything that caught his eyes. After gathering s much information as he could, Manchee
knew he had to somehow incorporated the trip into a novel.
And he did. Manchees sixth book, Trouble in Trinidad uses
the island national as a backdrop. Entangling the lives of Plano high school student Kevin
Wells and Trinidads Prime Minister Ahmad Shah, the story is filled with thrills,
action, adventure and romance.
"I like a story that moves quickly, (thats) full of action
(and is) entertaining. (Its) my escape at night when I get home, " Manchee said
in a phone interview from his law office in Dallas. "Its just writing a good
story, (the) genre is not critical. (I) cross genres. I write mainstreamaction,
romance, suspense, mystery, adventure, thrillersall of them some type of
thriller."
In the book, Kevin sees more excitement than the average teenager does.
Active in the schools Army ROTC color guard program, he participates in the
Carribean Trade Conference in Dallas and saves the Prime Minister from assassination. But
in rescuing Ahmad, Kevin is shot and nearly dies. While recovering, his life changes. He
meets and develops feelings for Kiran Shah, the Prime Ministers daughter. He is
summoned to Trinidad to testify against the alleged assassin and the adventure begins.
Kevin unfortunately, is unaware that the Prime Ministers enemies are out to kill
him.
Many of Manchees ideas come to him while he is in a
semi-conscious state.
"Usually I get great ideas when Im sleeping at night, or
early in the morning (when Im) halfway conscious," Manchee said. "I get
ideas all the time for novels...some are good and some are not-so-good. When one is really
good, I just go with it."
As the plot for Trouble in Trinidad developed, he reflected on
school shootings and put a twist on the concept of kids killing others. Instead, he
thought, what if a high school student has the opportunity to save someones life
and whos going to react that quickly to stop an assassination?
The student who could perform such as task would have to have some
reason to be more alert and aware. ROTC would grant him some experiences. The death of a
sister would be motivation for a moral philosophy in life and celibacy before
marriage," Manchee said.
"Kevin was a little different than the others, tempted, of course.
(Peers) would try to get him to react normally, but couldnt quite do it,"
Manchee said. "Chastity before marriage. (There are) some kids that believe in (it).
Its rare. (Hes) actually looking for a soul mate."
Trouble in Trinidad was released by Top Publications Ltd. Co. on
September 1. Manchee is also the author of books, Twice Tempted, Undaunted, Brash
Endeavor, Death Pact and Second Chair.

Mr. Manchee is a very talented
author. He has a great ability in expression of true emotions and understanding the depth
of how certain circumstances effect our lives and the future. This is a thrilling read of
decisions, love and as the title indicates...betrayal. It is the kind of book I would
expect to see on a movie or television screen. This author also has the ability to make
fictional books that can be so well related to everyday experiences making his stories
very believable. Great author and work!
